Where there's a wheel,
there's a way
Making the impossible, possible
At Paratrek we believe that everyone has the right to enjoy nature and travel with family, friends or as part of a group of people with a common interest.
That's why we founded Paratrek, to specialize in providing solutions
for people with physical disabilities which allow you to experience nature
in all its beauty and splendor.
Every story has a beginning
Paratrek's beginning happened long before it was established. 1973, the Yom Kippur War. Suez canal. Complete silence prevails. Suddenly a whistle. A missile lands and throws Shmulik Tzur from his tank. He lands on his face and crushes three vertebrae. From that moment he is paralyzed from the chest down and confined to a wheelchair. Fast forward 30 years and Omer Tzur, Shmulik's son, goes on a trip around the world for 3 years. On one of the most beautiful peaks in Tibet, Omer realizes that he cannot accept the fact that his father, who raised him to love the land and nature, did not get to go on such a trip. In 2008 they produced the first Trekker and together with 34 friends, they go on a one-month trek in the Taurus Mountains in Turkey. Yes, a very real trek, with field lodging, tents, cooking, singing around the fire. Exactly what you imagine. Well, maybe seeing a disabled person on top of a mountain is not exactly what any of us would imagine, but apparently anything is possible.
"The hardest things,
I do right away.
The impossible things
take a little longer"
Shmulik Zur
